JoMoPho covers birthday parties!

Until last week, I had never realized just how many photo opportunities there are at birthday parties. I mean, obviously you have the group shots of people having fun, and a pic of the cake, but last Saturday, my eyes were opened to the world of decorations, lights, and candid pictures of people doing embarrassing things.

Yes, I know, I'm being a little over-dramatic about this, but that's only because I don't really have a lot to say about this topic. What it all boils down to is this: I am an amateur photographer, and I go to birthday parties. When you mix those two facts together, you get me trying to further my photographic knowledge surrounded by Christmas lights, paper lanterns, and sugary desserts.

Here's some pics from a birthday party, enjoy.

JoMoPho is going coastal!

This week, my family and I are enjoying the sugary white beaches of Panama City. Besides being relaxing and completely feel-good, PCB also provides ludicrously beautiful photo-opps. In the 2.5 days that I've been down here, I've had to charge my camera's batteries twice. Of course, I'm a little uneasy about having my camera out and exposed with all this sand in the air, but I think it might just be worth the risk, because I'm getting some good shots (if I do say so myself). Gaze upon these from today.

Enjoy,

"That results in Poison Ivy..."

Right now, there's almost nothing I'd rather be doing besides lying in the grass, taking pictures of anything I see, and feeling warm. Being recently freed from the confines of "College: Spring 2011," I decided to do just that. Unfortunately, there are consequences for doing absolutely nothing all day, especially if one does nothing in the middle of large areas rampant with Poison Ivy.

Two weeks later, I am fully recovered and ready to do it again--but perhaps this time with long sleeves. These are some snapshots I took in my friend's front yard; I know some people consider these to be weeds, but they're still beautiful plants, and who am I to be a discriminatory florist? Wait, "florist" is already a word... Doesn't matter, all that does matter is that I have pictures of flowering plants to show you.

I love black and white photos, but it almost seems like a waste of the vibrant colors of the flowers, so I decided to take all the color out of this one, since there wasn't much to begin with.

Little Finger-Flowers

I took this pic two days ago, and I think it's kind of awesome--not because of anything I did, but just because I love these flowers. They're tiny, like the size of a finger, but dainty little things always catch my eye. You should probably go plant some in your yard; I don't know what they're called, but Lowes has them right now and I'm sure any nursery could help you out if you took the picture with you.

Enjoy,

I have returned!

After a minor leave of absence, I am back--WITH PHOTOS! Two weekends ago, my friend's family and I escaped to the northwest corner of Georgia for some much-needed relaxation. We had a lot of fun whilst pseudo-camping, including getting lost in the mountain community at which we were staying. Of course no trip would be complete without an exploratory run through a thrift store, a vintage guitar shop, and a campfire with s'mores.

Some thrift store findings. Yes, I did look like a real photographer or something taking pictures of things in a thrift store--it almost looked like I knew what I was doing...

Guitar in the vintage music shop

This is my best friend, who was trying on a hat in the thrift store. I thought the angle looked really interesting, and snapped a shot. When I was messing around while processing, I decided to take out all the color except yellow; I think it adds to the visual interest.

A delicious s'more--the perfect way to close a post about a trip to the Appalachian Foothills.

I've been a bad blogger...

I haven't posted anything in a while--I'm not sure, but I think the purpose of the blog is to show you all what I'm up to, and I haven't been doing that. Since my last post, I've attempted photographing a sporting event (I didn't succeed), watched some geese on their way back to Canada, snapped a few shots of a train, photographed a baptism, and played around in a parking garage. Here are a few pics.

There's a Spring in my step...

Yeah that's right, I made a corny pun about Spring. I know it doesn't officially start for another 20 days, but it feels too good and looks too colorful to not take some springy pics. I just snapped these today in my front yard mostly; none are edited, all with natural light.
